Very helpful. I was pumping baby's milk and suddenly there was blood in the pump. It was a bit painful and I was really worried. I hope it heals fast whatever the cause.

Blood in expressed milk
by: Amrita

I also had blood in my milk while expressing and got worried. My GP suggested it must be a ruptured duck inside the breast and not a cause of great worry.

Blood coming out of left breast.

I am currently 18 weeks pregnant and my breast started hurting so i started squeezing it to ease the pain, then i noticed blood coming from the nipple. Has this happened to anyone else?

Blood in expressed milk

I have recently tried to reduce the amount that I'm expressing so I can stop pumping. However, in doing so, I began to have blocked milk ducts in the left breast. Now my left breast is so sore and tender and began having blood come from that same breast, was very minimal at first but now this last time it was 3 oz before my milk didn't have any blood in it that I could see...what to do?

Have you seen a doctor about this? I would suggest that you do.

I noticed blood from my nipple about two weeks before giving birth, just a small amount-it was red on colour not pink or orange, I was very worried.

When my son was born the lactation nurse found out what it was and said it was fine to continue breastfeeding, it was about 3 days before it went away. We did not notice any blood in little ones stools.
