Cant lose weight while breastfeeding

I started off 105 5'3 and by the end of my pregnancy I was 148.

I lost about 20 pounds the first month which was all fluids, because everything is measuring the same!

I've been breastfeeding for 4 months and plan to for as long as my daughter wants.

It's hard though because I know my body is just hanging on to the extra weight til I wean. I eat soo healthy..its not my fault : /

Cant lose weight while breastfeeding
by: Tammy

I found the same, except I dont think it has anything to do with breastfeeding. I think our bodies change after child birth, making it a little more difficult to lose the weight?! It doesn't make sense to me, that breastfeeding would prevent weight loss, since you use extra calories to produce breast milk.

Anyone else have something to add?

Me neither....

I have an 8 month old who I breastfed exclusively for 6 months and still do about 4-5 times a day.

I am a Registered Dietitian so am very aware of the calories I eat, have tried limiting them, have tried eating to hunger, have tried eating however much I want with no restrictions...all the same result of no loss, no gain, just stable.

I introduced solids at around 6 months and this came with SOME weight loss, about 8 of the 18 lbs I have to lose since giving birth.

Am holding on to hope that once my period comes back and hormone levels even out again, that I will be able to slowly shake off those last few lbs.

Also worth mentioning, I have been moderately active since he was at least 2 months old (hour long walks and strength training).

Hang in there and try not to let it bother you too much, but I feel your frustration!
