Chamomile fan

by El
(Australia)

My four month old started teething recently and after being a great night sleeper before, was suddenly up at all hours and crying a lot during the day. I was resorting to 'Baby Panadol' in desperation. But for the past 48 hours, I have been drinking 5-6 cups a day of chamomile tea (using about 3 teabags, sometimes twice) and she is a completely different baby.

I am breastfeeding of course. Chamomile tea has also had quite a strong calming effect on me as an adult and I guess she's getting it through my milk. Could be coincidence but my gut feeling is it's the chamomile!

not good
by: Ashley

Made my little one sick. I drank some for sore throat just to have something warm. And I wasn't sick I had been in garden. He fussed a lot. He's sensitive anyway so take it into consideration

Baby and Chamomile does not agree

I love Chamomile but it seems to not have agreed with my son.

The first time I had Chamomile he vomited (at 2 months).

About a month later I drank a tea that contained Chamomile and later that day he vomited.

He rarely spits up if at all, so it was very alarming to see him spit up all this fluid.

I haven't had Chamomile since (one year) and he's never vomited in that manner again. I've deducted all other possibilities, Chamomile was the only common factor.

Any other moms have this experience?

coincidence?!
by: MommyR

Hi!

I would try again, now after a year, your baby should be able to handle it. I doubt that it was the Chamomile in the first place. (Maybe just a coincidence?!)

Let us know!

chamomile tea is from the rag weed family
by: Anonymous

Chamomile is from the rag weed and hayfever family.
I noticed I started getting clogged ears and a sinus condition and I couldnt figure out why. After going over my diet and possible new things I was using ( face products, etc.) Nothing was new except the chamomile tea. So I googled it and found it was the culprit!!

Chamomile with lemon verbena

I was drinking Chamomile Mint tea and didn't realize it had lemon verbena in it....which isn't safe for breastfeeding.
