Gassy Baby Advice

by Natalie

Hi all.

I have a baby boy, nearly six months : ) He has breast fed from day one. Never had a bottle, so really proud ; ), but he has such bad wind!

It does'nt matter what I eat, he just seems to get it really bad. I have a good, healthy diet and am a vegetarian and drink plenty soya milk, but have been looking on the site and it may be down to the soya milk that gives him the gas?

Does anyone know?

Hi Natalie

Apparently most of the time, gassiness in a baby is not caused by the things in mom's diet. Babies are usually quite gassy the first few months because their digestive systems are maturing. You should start to see improvements in the next few months.

Many believe that the food we breastfeeding moms eat directly influence our babies...sooooo....

It could be the soy, or it could be a number of other things in your diet, especially since we vegetarians (I am raw vegan) have many things in our diets that can make us and baby gassy.

Things that you could start to eliminate one by one are:

- Onion
- Broccoli
- Cauliflower
- Soy and soy products
- Cabbage
- Peas
- And basically anything else that makes you gassy, can make baby gassy too.

You can eliminate one at a time and give a time period of two weeks to see if the flatulence is lessened.

Hope this helps

Try the Windi catheter. It relieves farts and backed up turds too.
