a missed period

by Mahalia
(Trinidad )

I have a 10 month old baby and my period came back when he was six months. It came every month after that.

My period was missing this month and it's about 5 days late, I took two pregnancy tests and came back that I'm not pregnant.

I breastfeed only at nights, sometimes he sleep through the night so he doesn't take the breast.

I am a bit worried that I may be pregnant. Is this normal?

Me too!

Same here! Mines over a week late and still missing, I have been feeding more than normal at night.

As a newborn he would almost sleep through the night, my lactation nurse says that he's the opposite. Now at a year old he's acting like he is newborn lol, he's feeding probably 4-6 at night alone.

Same here, i was worried since I gave birth I've purely breastfed, after 1 month I had my first period, regular then lately it missed.

My last period was July 16 and it is a normal period not a spotting nor light blood, I expect it again this Aug 16, but it doesn't come. I was worried. last time we had sex was June 30.

I have missed my period last may 17..

by Jenhyl
(Jimenez Misamis Occidental, Philippines)

Hi.. (hope that you can understand my English, because i don't know how to speak English well)

I'm so worried about my situation right now..my last period was April 17 and last May 13 followed by may 22 we have accidentally unprotected sex with my x-bf.. Supposed to be i got my period in May 17 but its not coming!

Im so worried but my x-bf told me that he is sterile..Last June 16 i used Pregnancy Test and its positive! I used p.t in june18 for second time and its positive again! (but that time i drink a lot for "talimughat" {i think its tonic drink,its for the missed period. In our country its a traditional for wife,women who has miss there period.}

My question is:

1) Is he lied me that he is sterile? I am pregnant that time for 1month? If he is sterile why i don't have my period again for june17?(2nd month Ive missed my period) But i dont feel any symptoms..

AND THIS ONE IS MY ANOTHER PROBLEM ~

June23 my original bf came home for a vacation, we are just a neighborhood.. He want a baby from me. (Actually, we have 4yrs in our relationship..) so every time we have sex,we don't use any protection..last month of July,I have many symptoms, so tired and want to sleep even in the morning..sore and tenderness of my breast.. And now, it confirm that I'm pregnant! But I don't know how many weeks or a month.

My question here is:

I am pregnant with my bf but in my x-bf is not?
Or i am pregnant in the month of may as we accidentally have unprotected sex, with my sterile x bf but why its positive when i use pregnancy test 2 times? is it a false positive pregnancy test only???

Please, plz help me to answer all my questions.. I want to go to doctor for me to know how months I'm bringing this baby. It is coming 4months or coming 3 months?? but as for now but i don't have money yet.

My bf sending me money(for me to buy fruits and whatever i want to eat)but that's not enough to pay in the obgyne.. I feel conscience, for my bf and my family, and the family of my bf know already that I'm pregnant. and i cant sleep thinking what is really the truth.. Plz,help me.

I need your comments and answer. Ill wait.. Thanks!

You'll do fine

If you are pregnant so be it. I am sure you will love your baby no matter who the father is. Take care of yourself the best you can for your baby' s health. Are you familiar with Jesus? Joseph was not his biological father, but he loved Mary any way and raised Jesus as his own son. Matthew 6:33. Keep on seeking first the kingdom and all the other things will be added to you.

pregnant ?
by: Tracy

It is possible to be pregnant, if you have not taken precaution. BUT - To have a missing period while breastfeeding, is normal. You can skip a few months, or you can have spotting, it all depends on your hormones at the time. The more you breastfeed, the more likely you are to miss a period.

So, I suggest that you take a pregnancy test anyway to make sure.

missed period while breastfeeding

can your period stop all of a sudden when breastfeeding? I started my period a month after i gave birth.

I have only breastfed my son since he was born (may 26,2013). Now that he eats solids I breastfeed him twice day time and once in the night. Could this have caused my period to stop due to decrease in feedings?

Should I be concerned? My last period was Feb.9,2014 I thought i could be pregnant again and took 2 pregnancy tests and were both negative.

your period
by: Tracy

Hi

It is completely normal to have skipped periods, missed periods or spotting while breastfeeding.

It is actually very healthy. Your body is taking a break. The absence of menses while breastfeeding is what decreases a woman's risk of cancer later in life.

You dont need to worry. Please read more on the subject here...

im 5 days late

by Sshakue
(Brisabne)

I'm 5 days late for my period, it was meant to come last week on Friday, 11 November, but no show, my last period was on October 14 and finished on the 17 of October.

I'm also breastfeeding my 18mnth, but not full on though its only when he needs it, give it to him..

I had a home pregnancy test yesterday about 10am & it was negative, I don't know what to do now because I've told my father's son and a few family members!!

Do I have another home pregnancy test or just wait a few more days to do another one...my periods is always regular every month even though I'm breastfeeding, so I don't know why I'm late...any good advise please...

skipped period
by: Tracy

Hi

If you have changed feeding frequency lately (increased feeding) then it could be that you might skip your period.

If you have not been using any form of contraception then its just as likely that you are pregnant. A pregnancy test is only really seen as valid, if it is taken at least 4 days after a missed period, at this point the hormones in your body have increased to a level that can be picked up by the test. I would wait another three days before taking another test.

Period the whole year of bf, then missing

I have had my period every month from about 2 months fro EJ's births.

He just turned a year and is feeding more at night, and my period is a no show!

I have cramping like it's going to come, but doesn't. I had nipple tenderness, that usually happens right before a period, and when period come it goes away, the nipple tenderness has came and gone this month.

Anyone else experience?

I'm late....

(Las vegas )

My baby is going to be 2 next week. Yes, I'm still breastfeeding, but have been weening him. However, he's been on the breast a lot more than usual.....

Is it possible to cause my period to be late?? The only times I've ever been late is when I found out I was pregnant.

I've taken 3 tests. One 9 days ago, another 4 days ago and the last one yesterday. They all say negative. But I'm still freaking out. Today is day one of being late......

pregnancy test and contraception
by: Tracy

Hi

Yes, the extra time on the breast can cause a late period, or you might even skip your period.

A pregnancy test is usually very accurate at least 4 days after your periods due date.

If you are not ready to fall pregnant yet, I would suggest that you consider some form of contraception. Just remember that certain pills do reduce milk supply. Read more about this here...

menstrual cycle can late more than 34 days

by Marija
(Macedonia, Skopje)

I still breastfeed my son, he is 15 year month old. I got my menstrual cycle when he was 11 month old.

I had regular menstrual bleeding every month and it was regular coming on 28-32 days. But this month are passed 34 days and still got no menstruation.

I'm not pregnant. My question is, is it possible that the menstrual cycle can late more than 34 days when will come once during breastfeeding, is it possible not to come for two or three months and start again if were three months passed.

Regards,

Marija

Irregular periods
by: Anonymous

It has long been told that as long as you are exclusively breastfeeding your baby, you cannot get pregnant. This is an inaccurate statement. While high prolactin levels (the hormone that is in charge of milk production) can inhibit fertility, you can ovulate before you have a period and still get pregnant.

High prolactin levels can also throw off the body's "regular" cycle. Some days your baby may nurse more than others, and this can change your prolactin levels. This change can lead to irregular periods.

Your periods should regulate once your baby decides to wean, and this by itself is not usually a medical concern.
