liquid and mucous dark orange stool

by Grace's Mommy

Hi there! My baby is 4mo now, and she has had a never ending rash!

I have cut out milk (still eat some hard cheeses), I use nothing but the super sensative skin baby care products (getting expensive) and wash her in an oatmeal bath every night.

She has had dark orange stool that is just liquid and mucous for a couple weeks now. Last night there was a definant bad smell and she tends to gets super fussy in the evenings. I have been taking my prenatal vitams, plus super b complex.

I noticed it was turning my milk a diff color. I just dont know what else to do for her!

Hi Grace

Is your baby's rash a diaper rash? or a rash on other parts of the body?

If the rash is on other parts of baby's body it could indicate a definite food allergy. Are you breastfeeding exclusively?

A quick remedy for diaper rash...Your breast milk is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and helps heal skin. It’s free and it works great. Just put breast milk on the area and allow to air dry!

Does baby eat any sold foods? Finger foods? The introduction of solids can often change the appearance and smell of the stool for a little while until baby becomes accustomed to a certain food.

Rash and mucusy stool
by: Anonymous

My boy had a really bad rash that would bleed sometimes for a couple months finally a nurse told us to try a yeast infection cream and to stop using any other creams especially baby powder that can incurage yeast growth, we used the canesten 4 times a day for about a week and it got better.

Mucousy & fragrant stool

by Drew
(NJ)

My 5 month old daughter often has mucousy stool, but it is a typical brownish / tan color. It can also be quite fragrant. She is 100% breast fed and doctor said it must be something my wife ate, but i'm not so sure since it happens often, no matter what my wife eats. We give her a tri-vi-sol supplement, so maybe that has something to do with it? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Bloody mucus

My 4 week old boy has bloody stool with some brownish mucus mixed in. Kind of sounds like imbalance of breast milk. Should I be concerned? How can I help his problem?

my 5month old baby's poop has mucus in it

My baby's has been mucusy since she was 4months old, I took her to the doctor but said it is normal in breastfed babies, I'm still worried because she was not checked.

My baby seems normal and fine but is mucus poop really normal in babies, what can I do to stop it?? There's no blood in her poo & its still seedy and yellow just that there is mucus in it.
