bring your periods back while breastfeeding
by: Tracy

There is unfortunately no medication that you can take to bring your periods back while breastfeeding. There are many women who are struggling with this same problem.

Does this mean you have to stop breastfeeding to fall pregnant? NO

It is possible to fall pregnant while breastfeeding, so what can a breastfeeding mom do to increase chances of falling pregnant while breastfeeding?

Once your baby starts eating solids and breastfeeds less, the chances are better that you will start your period again.

Some moms get there periods a few times before starting to actually ovulate, so even if your period has started it might take a while before you become fertile again. During this time you can start taking ovulation tests?which are especially important while trying to conceive if you are breastfeeding. Other moms become fertile before their period even starts. These are the moms that sometimes fall pregnant by accident.

If you are becoming a little desperate to fall pregnant, you can: (remember that these methods will reduce your breast milk supply)

- Replace a few feedings with pumping. A breast pump does not remove milk as well as a baby?this will lower the milk producing hormones and might be enough to start your fertility cycle.

- Stop breastfeeding at night, if at all possible.

- Have longer periods of time between feedings.

Most important, you will have to have patience and have fun... having regular intercourse will also increase your odds of catching that first ovulation! Hope this helps

Breastfeeding and periods??

My baby is 16 months old and I am still breastfeeding her. She does not drink as much as she used to. I started my period 3 months ago, but I am now almost 2 weeks late. I took 5 pregnancy tests 2 of which showed a faint line and the other was negative.

Is that normal?

If anyone can help with an answer.

Thank you

Pregnancy Tests
by: Elsabe

From what I've learned, a pregnancy test can give a false negative, but never a false positive. It could be that you are just too early in your pregnancy and that those hormones aren't high enough to give a definitive second line. I would recommend waiting a week or two more and testing again. Or otherwise asking your doctor to take a blood test which will be more accurate.

If you are pregnant... a huge congrats!!! (",)

Breastfed baby gets rash when mom's period returns

by Me

I'm still breastfeeding my 15-month-old. My period returned for the first time after birth a few days ago and shortly afterward, my son's skin broke out in "baby acne" all over. Could my hormones have caused his skin to break out?

Period related baby rash
by: Craig benham

My wife and I are in the same position with our little one. When my wife's period returned our little girl developed a rash.

We spoke to many people and finally a woman in Italy (a pharmacist) said that she had had the same with her little girl.

A dermatologist said it was due to period hormones. We tried the cream she tried (Lichtena) and it helps.

The rash only occurs when my wife is menstruating. We spoke to a breast feeding expert who deals with drugs and she said that while rare this can happen.

When I researched it there is a lot in countries like australia saying it is called hormone rash and is also liked to being too hot. Good luck we are also trying to find the answer.

periods during breastfeeding
by: Tracy

Hi

Your period during breastfeeding can be irregular, but I dont know about whether you can get it twice a month?! I think, just to be safe you should go ask your doc about it.

HI shazzna

No, it does not mean that you have a low milk supply. Not all moms experience lactational amenorrhea, some only for a few weeks, months, others for a few years.

Don't worry, you are producing enough milk if your baby is happy and is picking up weight.
