Nursing Mum

by Bethy

I practice exclusive breastfeeding. I had my baby in November. Sometimes in December, I had to leave my baby at home to write some exams.

I only return later in the day to resume breastfeeding. This happened for 4days. Soon after, I had my period for 5days ( though not heavy).

Now, it has stopped, no longer flowing. My breast has slightly increased in size. Could I be pregnant?

Please reply soon.

is it a sign of pregnancy?
by: Tracy

When you decrease the frequency of feeds, your breast milk supply can drop a little, also during a menstrual period, your milk supply can drop some what. This might be why you feel your breasts are bigger than usual, because they have filled up with more milk again.

Your menstrual periods while breastfeeding can come and go, you might even skip a few months in-between. Once you have had a period, it is important that you use protection if you do not wish to fall pregnant.

Swollen breasts can be a sign of pregnancy, but is more likely just normal hormone changes. Our hormones are constantly in upheaval while breastfeeding.
