Fussy baby
by: Zelda Behr

I think all new moms go through a sleepless stage, especially in the first few weeks.

My sons first month and a half had me on zombie mode. But remember it will pass don't loose hope!

Here are a few tips that might help calm baby and get her to rest.

I found co-sleeping great, baby hears your heartbeat, feels your heat and can smell you close by and, if you are breastfeeding, it makes night time feeds a breeze.

Remember that for 9 months she was inside you and now suddenly she has to sleep on her own.

If you are not the co-sleeping type, try swaddling your baby and put a piece of your clothing with baby, so that she can smell you.

White noise or soft soothing music might also help.

Keep a bed time routine: a warm bath at the same time each night, bed time story and/or lullaby, feed and then bedtime.

I have been reading a story to my son since birth and he loves it.

Decide on a time at night for the household to quiet down, dim the lights, turn off unnecessary noise like the TV etc.

Don't let baby sleep in motion rocking, a swing, car ride, or stroller, it might look like baby sleeps better, but they don't reach that deep sleep that's needed for rest.

If you do prefer to rock baby to sleep, only do so until she is completely asleep and lay her down.

I believe in the no more tears method so my son gets picked up if he cries and if he wants to be rocked to sleep, he does also fall asleep on his own though.

You can also try the cry it out method, in which baby is put to bed and left to cry...the theory behind this is that he has to learn to self sooth.

Here is some more for you to read, on helping baby sleep...

Hope this helps.

Good luck and enjoy your precious gift.

How to soothe a colicky baby
by: Sehrish

My son was very fussy due to colic since his birth. We did every possible remedies but all in vain. My boy was crying all the time and it was a really hard time for my hubby and me. One of my friends suggested me to use babies magic tea. I did so and got great results.
