Bfing with small breasts is hard!

I'm an A cup. manuevering to get my nipple in the baby's mouth and keeping it there was hard. I threw my back out twice trying! I wish I had an extra inch of breast length to accomodate BFing. Yes, small breasted women can nurse, but the positions are harder because you have to lean forward.

BF with small breasts
by: MichelE

Howdy

Sounds like a lot of hard work! Good on you for sticking at it! I saw a lactation consultant after trouble breastfeeding and it was amazing. She showed me now to bring the baby to the breast when my son opened his mouth rather than me leaning forward to get my nipple in his mouth. Just wanted to suggest this for you. If you have months of BFing ahead of you, you do not want to be throwing your back out or putting up with a sore back because of BFing leaning forward all the time. Good luck.

Small Breasts Lots of Milk

by Kendallsmommy

I was 34A before I was pregnant, I am now currently 36b while breast feeding. Even though my breast are very small, I was surprised at the amount of milk I was producing.

I was producing so much milk that I had to constantly pump every 2-3 hrs because I would get so engorged. Now My daughter is 8 months and I am still pumping but only every 6-8 hours and still is producing any where from 8-15 ounce with each pumping session. So small breast can diff nurse..

One breast bigger than the other

My boobs are really sore and I just noticed that one is bigger than the other, but it is really noticeable.

My mom says it might be a breast duct, but I'm not breast feeding nor am I pregnant... What do you think it is?

WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BREAST?
by: Anonymous

I also have this problem. I have nursed 3 children. After nursing my first child, I noticed one of my breast seemed to be much smaller than the other. I thought it was because my baby preferred one breast to the other and he nursed more on his favorite.

So with my second baby boy I tried to even out my breast by nursing more on the smaller breast. This did not help at all. My breast are still noticeably different sizes.

I have resorted to using breast pads for the smaller breast to even out the breast and fill my bra on one side.

I don't know why this has happened...if it was because of the way I nursed my first born or not.

My new little one prefers the smaller breast. So I give it to her and she is happy. But it would be nice to find out why this has happened and how to fix it.

uneven breasts after breastfeeding
by: Anonymous

There is an uncommon type of breast lump called a galactocele (ga-lac-toe-seel)

This is apparent when some of the ducts have formed a pocket of milk. It may feel like a movable sack inside the breast. The milk will gradually turn into an oily substance. These sacs can be surgically removed after breastfeeding, because they usually fill up again if removed while still breastfeeding.

one breast bigger
by: Tracy

Just make sure you breastfeed and pump both breasts equally as much. One breast can produce more milk than the other, in this case your breast size will return to normal once you have weaned baby, a small price to pay for a happy healthy baby.

Pump the smaller one
by: Katelin Granados

I had the same problem. Pump the smaller breast after feedings.. The more stimulation, the body will increase milk production. The more milk emptied from the breast will make the body think it needs to make more. If you have to pump the larger one only do do for comfort then stop. This worked for me. Good job and stick with it!!
