zoloft and breastfeeding NEW
by: Tracy

Hi, thanks for your question Susan.

The most important thing for baby is to receive your milk, you are providing immunity to diseases among other things.

Zoloft concentrations in breast milk have been found to be very low (only trace amounts), and is the number one medication prescribed for moms.

No adverse effects have been reported in babies exposed to Zoloft through breastfeeding.

Giving baby a bottle instead of nursing will just worsen the situation, baby won't be receiving the best start possible and you won't have the benefit of breastfeeding either, which includes warding against post partum depression. The benefits of the breast milk far outweigh the risk taken if you continue to breastfeed on Zoloft.

Please read the benefits of breast milk

If you are still unsure about whether to continue to breastfeed while on Zoloft please find a PRO-breastfeeding doctor for advice. Most other doctors will just recommend you start baby on formula because of lack of knowledge when it comes to breastfeeding.
