Breasefeeding and periods
by: Lyssa

Some breastfeeding mothers find they do not have a period while they are fully nursing their babies, some have light periods, and some have regular full periods. This usually is different for every woman and sometimes can differ between pregnancies.

Some woman do notice that the hormonal changes caused by their periods decreases their supply somewhat, but regular nursing sessions and drinking plenty of water makes sure they do not lose their supply and it almost always returns to normal once their period is over.

Starting your period does NOT mean that you need to supplement or stop breastfeeding. Just increase your water and breastfeed normally.
