Baby not pooping

Is your baby breastfed? If so, yes it is normal. If he/she has not had a stool within ten days, you can see your pediatrician.

If your baby is formula fed then this is not normal, I would recommend you see your doctor ASAP.

Baby did not poop

Should I be worried?

My two weeks old baby did not poop 4 five days, when she finally did, the poop was hard. She is breastfed only.

Baby not pooping ~ see your pediatrician
by: Tracy

In the first two to three weeks, a baby usually poops more often than that (some have a poop after every few feeds), after this, they sometimes have a bowel movement less often (some may only have one every 7 to 10 days)

Your baby's poop should never be hard, especially while breastfeeding. (breast milk is like a natural laxative).

So I would recommend that you see your pediatrician if this does not improve or if the baby keeps getting constipated

baby not pooping
by: Annie

Hi

Sometimes, especially in breastfed babies, they have a change in bowel movement frequency. A breastfed baby that is older than six weeks can start to poop less frequently, as little as once in 10 days even. The problem comes in when your baby's stool is hard. Also, if you notice that your baby is uncomfortable, or straining (pushing), this can indicate constipation.

If your baby seems happy, then wait it out. If the stool is soft, there is nothing to worry about.
