Healthy Oats Lactation Cookies
The strong flavor of brewer's yeast in this recipe is masked by the added ingredients to make this not only delicious but a powerful tool for increasing your milk supply.
The brewer's yeast can be left out if you want to make these cookies for your children - My kids love them.
3 Large, ripe mashed bananas
1 tsp vanilla extract
120ml coconut oil
3 tbsp of almond butter
3 tbsp of peanut butter
4 - 5 tbsp honey
3 tbsp cocoa nibs
20 finely chopped almonds.
4 tbsp ground flax seeds
3 cups of raw oats
⅔ cup of almond flour
2 tbsp brewer's yeast
½ tsp Himalayan salt
½ tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking powder
Calories in the whole batch are 3800. I divided mine into 30 large cookies, so they were each about 125cal.
How to make these lactation cookies
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Mix the mashed bananas with the vanilla extract, honey warmed coconut oil and nut butter.
In another bowl mix together the dry ingredients. Stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
Form balls of dough. Place onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Flatten slightly with your fingers.
Bake for 10 minutes and turn them. Bake another 7 minutes until golden brown.
The cookies will still be soft, they harden as they cool.
The raw dough is actually quite yummy too. You could skip the oven and roll them into small balls and then into desiccated coconut. Then put them into the deep-freeze. Remove them from the freezer as needed.

Why these Specific Ingredients for our Breast Milk Cookies?
Our breastfeeding cookies not only increase supply, but they improve the quality (richness) of breast milk by adding important vitamins, fats, and nutrients to the mix.
Oats - Contains Saponins. Saponins help to increase levels of the lactation hormone Prolactin. They also increase Oxytocin (feel-good hormone) levels, which is another essential hormone for lactation. Oats are also full of protein, vitamins and minerals. Flaxseeds (linseed) - Contains high amounts of fatty acids. Giving you and your baby’s immune system a boost.
Brewer's yeast - Contains a lot of Vit B.
Coconut oil - Increases the levels of lauric and capric acid in breast milk, therefore, your milk will contain an increased amount of antimicrobials. This means extra protection from viruses, bacteria, and fungus (yeast infections) for you and your baby.
3 - 5 cookies should increase supply, but please do take into account your daily calorie limit when adding these to your diet. More than 5 cookies per day cannot harm you, but you might end up gaining some unwanted extra pounds.

Water intake while breastfeeding is crucial. A non-lactating woman needs to drink 1 cup (250ml) of water per 10kg of body weight, plus 1 extra per day. For example: If you weigh 80kg, you need to drink 9 cups of water per day. So if a non-lactating woman needs that much water, how much more doesn’t a lactating mother need? I would suggest an extra two cups at least. Are you drinking enough water?
Avoid artificial nipples and dummies that take the place of your breast. Allowing comfort nursing is the best way to increase milk supply.
