Horrid nausea while feeding

by Elicia
(Ca)

I'm 6 weeks into breastfeeding my third child and have had horrid nausea while feeding, especially, if I have just eaten, can smell or see food.

Most times even drinking water is hard to do. Not only so I get nausea, but other symptoms I have the itching, headaches, heartburn, sweating, and sometimes constipation!!!!!

On top of that I had c-sections and get all the wonderful spinal contractions and uterine contractions.

Nausea while breastfeeding
by: Tracy

Hi Debbie

Yes, it is normal, not nice, but normal.

Does it happen every time you breastfeed her?

Have you tried some of the tips mentioned on the main page?

Congrats on breastfeeding her this far, even though. I take my hat off for you!

a few suggestions
by: Tracy

Hi

This does not sound like it could be related to the breastfeeding relationship. I would recommend that you have some blood work done. I like to go the natural route. Go see your local homeopath and ask tell them about your symptoms, they are more likely to be breastfeeding friendly.

Headaches

by Ely

Hello

I have a 10 months baby girl fed with breast milk and normal food.

I am suffering from headaches for 7 months now. I had an MRI done and everything is ok. I can't find the reason of the pain.

The frequency is almost everyday, and my life is difficult. I am taking paracetamol, but I had a pain in the top of the head that cannot be fixed with panadol, nor with endep.

Does someone experience the same. Did it stop with the weaning of the baby?

I am so desperate! I also tried acupuncture.

hormonal headache
by: Tracy

Hi

It could be a hormonal headache; they are quite common. I know a lot of people might disagree with me on this, but in your specific situation, my advice is to start weaning slowly.

Your baby has already received ten months of the best start possible. If it means that you have a better quality of life and that you will enjoy your baby more, then go for it. You have, it seems, already done some research and have ruled out most other causes.

Its better for your child to be formula fed and have a happy, healthy mommy than a miserable mommy who provides breast milk.

Headaches

Thanks Tracy for your response.
It's really nice to be understood and to feel supported.
I am happy to start weaning my baby and last week I bought the formula. She doesn't seem to like it. I am trying to give her more food and water and less breastfeeding. In one month I will start the cow milk. I will let you know if the headaches will disappear.
Thanks again for your advice and again bravo to your site who helped me to see that some people experience headaches related to breastfeeding.
Regards
Ely

GI cramps while bf

I'm exclusively breastfeeding my 6wk old and have nausea if I bf on an empty stomach. I also have terrible GI pains. Lying down to bf helps, but I hope this won't last long.
