The "newborn" stage is 0-3 months. During this time, a baby is still coming to terms with having exited the womb, so give as much warm contact as you can.
That said, there is probably no reason to limit skin contact after this time, as your baby still craves your affection and closeness, he just expresses himself differently now.
Also remember that babies love skin time with Dad too, so don't hesitate to be involved. NB: I am not a healthcare or infant expert - just a person sharing what I've observed about my own baby, and what I've learned from actual experts.
